I am not dead…yet

Okay,

I know it’s been a long time since I posted, but I’ve been busy riding 320 miles in 5 days, which I’ve never done.

Plus, I’ve been eating and sleeping. Here’s the recap…it’s all I can muster right now.

Day One: NYC to Jersey (I can’t remember where)

We kick it off in Columbus Square, which is really really cool. I’ve always wanted to ride my bike in the “city” (I know I’m supposed to use caps, but…whatever dude) and now I can say that I have. It was a blast. If I lived there I would deffinitely bike everywhere. It was a bit intimadating, but not nearly as much as I thought.

The ride was crazy, we got lost over and over and added about 20 miles to our “easy” 55 mile first day. When it was done, I felt amazing but also tired and sore in places I didn’t even know could get tired and sore.

Day Two: Jersey to Philly 60 some miles. AWESOME. Philly is a great bike town. …super fun and cool.

Day Three: 106 miles…I bailed 40 miles shy…my ankle was swelling and burning…I was kind of freaking out…and in pain…so I vanned it in to the hotel. One of my goals was to be smart about the ride. Smart instead of proud. It’s not (contrary to what may think) a race.

I KNOW THAT I’M NOT REALLY GIVING YOU ANYTHING…I’M TIRED AND I CAN’T REMEMBER STUFF RIGHT NOW…MY BODY WILL ADJUST THEN I’LL START BEING BITTER AND FUNNY AND INSIGHTFUL AGAIN (okay not again)

Day Four: Short day..blah blah I’m fading 40 miles no problem

Day five (today, caught up sort of) 87 miles…rode the whole way…paced myself…

SO…I’m alive and I have been riding  a lot (full) and more to come. W e are in Virginia today and tomorrow we have a short ride, so I’ll be back then.

I swear I’ll have things to say….or not

peace out

Hang in there, dude. Another bottle of 42 Below and it’ll be all good.

Your mission of spreading the good word of Bikeism was already a success before you left. I look like a total bike nerd now, wearing a (gasp) helmet on my new road bike. I was thinking of you as I slogged my pathetic 20 miles today. Hope the ankle’s better.

You’ve also inspired me to scrape the rust off of my bike and see what I can do. I’m going to get a new bike chain and repair all the problems in the next week or so and try to do as much as I can.
